Dr Danielle D’Mello is a Health Care and Professions (HCPC) registered Counselling Psychologist practising in Central London, next to Liverpool Street Station.
Danielle has a long standing interest in the human psyche and in helping others. The oldest of six children in a biracial family, Danielle has always been in identity and the roles we play in our lives. She first began to explore a career in therapy when volunteering at a counselling helpline whilst completing her graduate degree in psychology. Since then, Danielle moved to London and completed her doctorate in Counselling Psychology. Danielle has ten years experience of working in counselling and mental health, in the National Health Service (NHS), private and charity sector.
Danielle has supported people, both adults and children, with a range of problems including anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, work-place bullying, addiction, obsessive-compulsive disorder, self-harm, personality disorders, schizophrenia and bipolar affective disorder. Having worked in the NHS in secondary care and inpatient mental health services for some years, Danielle now splits her work between the NHS and private practice.
In terms of therapeutic approach, Danielle believes it is important to try understand a person from their own perspective and support them to make sense of their internal experiences in a way that respects their individualism. Danielle uses evidence-based interventions grounded in acceptance and compassion to support the individual to overcome their difficulties, work towards their personal goals and better psychological well-being.
